Oatmeal has always been a go-to breakfast for me. Even when I was in elementry school I remember eating the Quaker Fruit and Cream packets of oatmeal before hopping on the bus in the morning. (I was never one to skip breakfast). Now that I have a more "sophisticated pallet" (as my parents say), I like to venture outside the world of microwavable packets. Don't get me wrong, those fruit and cream packets were delicious but, not super filling!
Oats are a blank canvas and have endless possibilites of toppings and flavors. They are also very easy and realativley quick to make. For weekends, when I have more time, I like to cook my oats over the stovetop. Here is my basic method:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup oats
1 cup of tea (give or take)
Extracts/sweetners of choice (I use stevia drops)
1. First, brew a cup of your favorite tea. I like to use tea because it gives it a nice flavor, but you could also use water or milk.
2. Place your oats and liquid of choice in a small pot over high heat. Wait until the liquid starts to boil on the sides of the pot. (About 1 minute)
3. Place a lid of the pot and turn heat to low. Let the oats sit until most of the liquid is absorbed and it has reached the desired consistancy.
4. Add extracts and sweetners and lots of toppings! Some of my favorites are greek yogurt, fruit (frozen or fresh), cinnamon, nut butters, and trail mix.

On school days, I am usually in a hurry so I cook my oats in the microwave. Trust me there is not much of a difference in taste between the microwave and the stove top. You just have to be careful when cooking in the microwave because oats have a tendency to spill all over your microwave. (I have learned this through expirience).
Method:
1. Place all ingredients in a large bowl. (same ingredients as above)
2. Microwave for 2-3 minutes stopping every 30 seconds or so the oats do not spill over.
3. Stir in sweetners and top with desired toppings.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many people skip. Eating oats in the morning is a great way to start your metabolism and it is a great incentive to wake up early in the morning. Lol! :)
As you can tell, I really like oatmeal. Hence the 5000 picture of them I have on my phone....
So there you have it folks! A breakfast that will leave you full and satisfied to fuel your day!
