Can you believe it is already March? Feburary went by way to quickly! I know it is the shortest month but only by two days! Time flies when your having fun. Or extremely busy. For me the later one is true. I have been goinggoinggoing nonstop for the past three weeks from school, to dance, to hairspray rehearsal, and back home again, where I then have to do my homework! It sounds overwhelming but I have been having a blast. The musical is something I decided to do last minute and I am so thankful I did. It is totally out of my comfort zone (the acting and the singing part at least) and I have gotten to meet so many amazing people. Sure it gets a little stressful at times with the other school work I have on my plate but it is definitly worth it. That being said, I haven't had a lot of spare time to create multiple recipes a week to share with you all. For this reason I have decided to change the name of my posts from "Recipe Share" to "Weekly Share". I will still try to post recipes that I make, but I will also include my favorite blogs, weekly eats, and just personal stories and thoughts. Hopefully this will keep these posts exciting to read. Without further ado let's begin Weekly Share #8...
Two times this week I was lucky enough to have "oats-in-an-almost-empty-nutbutter-jar". Whoever came up with the idea to eat their breakfast out of an almost empty nut butter jar deserves the Noble Prize in my book. No matter what, when you start your day off with a breakfast that has you scraping down the sides of a jar to inhale copious amounts of nutbutter, you will have an awesome day. It is a proven fact. Both of these flavors were really good but I highly reccomend the sunbutter. I prefer the slightly sweetened kind. As for the Kolat brand I was a little bit disapointed only because I paid eleven dollars for the jar and I was prepared to be blown off my feet. It was still good but, in my opinion, not worth the extra expense.
This weekend my parents and I made a quick road trip to Ann Arbor for a Whole Foods visit. The drive is only one hour, the perfect amount of time for an effective power nap! We arrived around lunch time so we decided to stop for lunch in the city at a latin eatery called Lena. The place itself was worth the trip. The decor was stylish and hip. I felt like I was in a hipster resturant in Porland; it was that cool! The food was also fantastic. I ordered the roasted vegetable salad which came with roasted sweet potatoes, beets, sundried tomatoes, heirloom carrots and jerk chicken with a tarragon yogurt dressing. We also split an order of guac which we all fell in love with. If you ever find yourself in Ann Arbor make sure to stop at Lena's. Overall I would give it a four out of five stars. Afterwords we went to Whole Foods and I roamed the aisles for rediculous amounts of time. A foodies gotta do what a foodies gotta do. Right? I picked up some fun new treats which I will elaborate more on next weeks share.
My meals lately have been dang delicious and I owe it all to the japanese yams. I might even go as far and say that I like them better than traditional orange ones. The texture is amazing and they pair perfectly with hummus.
In terms of social media I have been obsessed with Duolingo and Bloglovin'. Everyone who has a smartphone needs to get these apps. I am requiring everyone who reads this blog to download these. Duolingo helps you learn different languages through fun and easy games. I just whip out my phone when I have some down time. I find it really helpful in my french class. Who knew learning a language could be so easy and fun!? Bloglovin' is totally different but just (or even more) entertaining. Speaking of bloglovin' here are some recipes from my bloglovin' feed that I found from my favorite bloggers.
Vegan Broccoli Cheeze Chickpea Burgers from Hummusapien
Raw Chocolate Pistachio Cups from The Almond Eater
Roasted Vegetable Sandwiches with Basil Aioli from Blissful Basil
Cheddar Cornbread Scones from Imma Eat That
